Wolds Gliding Club is proud to offer opportunities to Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants at Bronze, Silver and Gold level.

Volunteer - Help others to fly at Wolds Gliding Club

  • Help launch gliders.

  • Assist with moving gliders on the ground.

  • Learn to drive the retrieve buggies.

  • Support other club activities.

  • Become part of a team.

  • Develop your interpersonal skills.

  • Watch you confidence grow.

Skills - Learn to fly at Wolds Gliding Club

  • Get taught to fly an aircraft.

  • Learn to soar like a bird. (Stay up for ages!)

  • Learn to drive the retrieve buggies.

  • Help to launch and retrieve gliders.

  • Become part of a team.

  • Develop your interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrate your responsibility.

Free if you don’t fly*

Flying costs from £23 per visit*

* All participants must hold a current club membership for the duration of the award period for insurance purposes. Membership prices are as follows for junior (up to 21 or 25 in full time education) and adult memberships respectively:

  • 3 month award period membership = £23/£100

  • 6 month award period membership = £45/£167

  • 12 month award period membership = £90/£300
