Congratulations to Tim Milner who last month won the Club Class of the Flight Challenge Cup at Prievidza, Slovakia, for the third year running. During the nine days of tasks Tim was never lower overall than second place in the total scores and led after the two final days.
Tim writes “One of the most popular international gliding competitions attracting entries from as far as Australian and South Africa. Briefings are given in English and the airfield has excellent facilities. The club will host the 2019 European Championships. In April the flat wide valleys have short crop making for comfortable outlandings. Many of us have also experienced the areas where it’s best not to get too low! Longest tasks flown were 500km with a cloud base of 9500ft it was possible to soar the 8500ft Tatra Mountains which form the western part of the Carpathian range. Flights can also include the occasional trips into Poland, Czech Republic and as far south to the flatlands of Hungary.
105 competitors in 3 classes Club, 15m and Combi. Class winners were (Combi) World number 1 Sebastian Kawa from Poland, (15m) Czech Champion Miloslav Chink and (Club) Tim Milner UK, who won for the 3rd consecutive year.”
